I work with university students and whenever they ask me for life advise I just tell them 'Wear sunscreen.' I am fortunate I was Gothic as a teen and in my 20s in the 90s, so I never went into the sun much and then when I did, sunscreen was a bigger deal. Millenials are the first generation to really use sunscreen since childhood. Aging is truly a privledge. So many in the world don't get the opportunity to make it due to disease, accidents, or ongoing wars and genocide. So I believe we owe it to ourselves, our peers, and our families to take care of ourselves while we can. Taking care of my own mother with dementia and barely unable to walk due to osteoporosis and need sanitation care is not what I want for myself.

I worked outside for over 10 years in my 20s/early 30s and never wore sunscreen and regret it.

Thank you for sharing this, Sarah. Aging truly is a privilege and I’d like to do it with dignity.

Also as someone who had undiagnosed MASSIVE thyroid cancer I can’t stress enough - do not take unregulated thyroid supplements that claim to ‘fix’. Like you say - get blood work and reduce stress. Those two things will fix it faster than any unregulated supplement can!

YES!!! This is huge. I am so glad you have found some answers and I can’t agree with you more! My thyroid is fried from chronic adrenal fatigue (trauma + health combo) and I’ve been taking Thorne’s glandular adrenal support. It’s actually kind of helping somewhat, I’m not sure where you are in your supplementation but as far as stress support my naturopath recommended it highly! Thanks for all of your interactions with my posts, means the world. Dreaming of a coffee date.

Ahhh me too! We’ll make it happen ☕️

Glad you’ve got the support of a good naturopath!! Honestly stress reduction is the biggest thing…give it time and good quality rest for the adrenals. I had my thyroid surgically removed and am on Levo for life now. It’s fine (def not the same as having a thyroid!) and hypothyroidism sucks but I’M ALIVE ♥️🍾

A perfectly timed reflection on aging the week I’m finally seeking physical therapy for my shitty knees. Like why to my knees hurt so damn bad at 20 fucking 7. Was it all the hours dancing on concrete ballroom floors? Starving myself in high school? Ignoring my health postpartum while raising babies? Damn. Loved reading this and being reminded how to take care of myself. Thank you.

This was a good read until the CMA testing and glyphosate "poisoning" was mentioned. The CMA testing appears to be a best experimental and at worst, quackery and how this would determine "glyphosate poisoning" is very questionable...but it does seem like a good gimmick to sell a test and supplements and create fear. https://www.aapc.com/codes/webroot/upload/general_pages_docs/document/378.pdf https://quackwatch.org/related/tests/

Spoken like a true dietician! You are not in the right place - hurry along and invalidate more health issues for more people ❤️

Thank you for this! Oh so refreshing. Your reference to aging being like a never ending trek through the backcountry is apt. 👏🏼

I had never heard of a CMA blood test before but am curious, particularly after you mentioned that through it you were able to identify glyphosate poisoning?! 🤯 I was recently diagnosed with celiac, on top of hypothyroidism and the whole thing has me spinning my wheels about WTH is causing all this inflammation. 🤔 Thank you for giving me some things to pursue. (And I will drink more H2O 😇)
